Menstrual Man reflection- Joycelyn Chuah 4C
I find that the menstrual man, Muruganantham, is a very inspiring person. Although he is a school dropout, has very limited resources and was even shunned by many because of what he was doing, it does not stop him from pursuing his dreams and the goals he want to achieve. As he had mentioned: " If an educated person does not make use of his knowledge to come up with new ideas or solutions to solve the problems in the society, but merely use education to survive in this world, then it will be completely useless". I very much agree with the words that Muruganantham had said. It is important that an educated person does not just make use of his knowledge to get a higher-paying job and therefore live a better life. That is very much selfish and it only brings about benefits to himself, and perhaps his few other family members. He or she should make use of these precious knowledge that most people in India are unable to obtain to help solve the various problems that exist in the society, which are severe especially in a lowly developed country like India. It is important that one contributes back to the society, and reach out to the millions of people whom desperately needs help in the country, especially when one has an extra "bonus" of receiving education, which is a privilege that many others have no access to. Moreover, Muruganantham is an educated and illiterate person but he still is passionate about contributing to the society and helping rural women solve the sanitary pads problem. His perseverance and determination allowed him to overcome all the challenges he faced, such as the choosing of material, in which it took him more than 2 years to find the 60 year old secret material of many large cooperations that manufacture sanitary pads. He is truly an inspiring person and we should definitely all learn from him.
